been real busy tryin to finish up “loose end” projects. the lion and lamb happened because someone inquired about a lifesize lion and lamb. i thought maybe this person would decide “yes” if i made a small model. well…maybe-maybe not. who knows? aw well…i think it came out really nice though, and i intend to do it in bronze and resin. im thinking around $175 including shipping for the resin. anyone that is interested should e-mail me.
the vultures….ah!…my “pet” project! they have been collecting dust for the last few yrs. just havent had the $ to finish them. lotsa rubber, resin, etc. well, the seunta sales let me move ahead on it. the mold on the 1st vulture is done, and the 2nd ones mold will be done this coming weekend. only the branch left to go. i cast the 1st one and it came out pretty good! i dont have a roto-cast machine. my version of hollow casting is to put a tarp on the dirt outside the studio, put the 50 lb mold out there, pour resin in n’ roll it around like mad. yup….resin splashes everywhere. i wear my trash casting clothes, bandana n’ goggles n’ just go for it. after it sets up,i prop the mold up on a rock, mix a 2 part foam n’ pour it in the mold. i over-estimated the mix, and a volcano gyser of foam gushed out! i kept trying to slap it off w/ a big stick, but it was to fast for me. oh man!….what a sight! the whole mold was covered in foam, which i had to chip off w/ chisel n’ mallet. im sure all of the proffessional casters would have died laughing. eh….no matter! cast 3 of them before i ran out of resin n’ they are all GOOD! yippee!!!! vultures are gonna be done by end of october i think. i hope. progress pics later.
